Objectives for the Program in Music

The program in Music provides students with the opportunity to actively engage in music through instrumental or choral work. Courses are designed to fulfill the arts requirement in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Program and to study the history and theory of music at different times across many cultures. A minor is also available.

Requirements for the Minor in Music


The minor in Music requires 18 semester hours of course work including three core courses (9 credits) and three elective courses (9 credits). A pass/fail piano proficiency evaluation or MUSC 2500 is required.  Students must take the following:
