CRAR 8200 - Music Learning Theory and Creativity 3 cr. A study of Gordon’s learning theory of music aptitude, achievement, and testing and its relationship to musical creativity. After learning and performing basic rhythmic and tonal patterns students apply this knowledge and skill in creating compositions. The similarities and differences among the terms discovery, creativity and improvisation are discussed and experienced in a variety of music projects. The importance of creativity and improvisation in Gordon’s skill learning sequence are discussed and experienced in depth.
