CSC 8016 - Machine Learning for Data Science 3 cr. This course provides an overview of the most useful statistical methods for data science applications. Topics to be covered include linear regression, neural networks, and support vector machines. These are paradigms used to find trends and anomalies, and classify data. We will cover supervised and unsupervised learning, choosing and optimizing each technique. Students will implement these methods and concentrate on using a wide variety of machine learning algorithms commonly utilized in data science and analytics.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 1700 or equivalent, CSC 7015 (may be taken concurrently)
