ENGL 2220 - British Literature III: Empire and Resistance 3 cr. 3 hr. Day course offered every Semester. Also offered evenings.
This course surveys British writers from the Victorian era to the present, tracing their responses to the revolutionary changes in art, music, science, social and economic classes and British imperialism. Representative authors include Dickens, Eliot, Trollope, Barrett-Browning, Wilde, Shaw, Woolf, Joyce and Beckett, authors whose depiction of human nature challenged contemporary concepts of gender, race and class.
