ENGL 3600 - Language, Literature, and the Digital Humanities 3 cr. 3 hr. Offered every other year
This course immerses students in digital humanities and its application in literary study by actively contributing to or collaboratively building new DH projects on significant literary works, authors, genres, or periods. While students may be using existing data sets and materials, the focus of the course will be on building and not simply using data or digital works that augment how we understand literature in a digital age. Project methods and topics will differ depending on the instructor. Potential methods employed may include distant reading strategies and quantitative analysis of textual material, computational linguistics, digital archive management, or text encoding for digital edition publication.
