HMSV 3450 - Aging Social Welfare Policy


3 cr. 3 hr. Offered every spring semester.

An introduction to the history of social policies and policymaking addressing needs of older adults and their families. Students learn skills in critical policy analysis, by examining individual experiences of aging (and impacts of sociocultural diversity), family and community responses to aging needs, and social policies to address those needs.  *Field Experience: This course requires the successful completion of a 45-hour supervised experience in a elder services agency. Students must complete the practicum in order to receive a passing grade for the course. 

Prerequisite(s): HMSV 1100
