COMM 3630 - Large Format Photography

3 cr. 3 hr. Day course offered in the Fall.

The course specializes in 4 x 5 view camera analog photography. Pre-visualization and the use of the Zone System is introduced for a direct manipulation of tonal range and image detail through an exploration of advanced exposure and development techniques. Students will gain an appreciation of the inherent flexibility of the view camera’s adjustments, approaching photography through a more refined control over image perspective, focus and detail. Students are responsible for paper and film supplies.
