ASL 1050 - Introduction to Deaf Studies 3 cr. 3 hr. Offered every other spring semester in odd numbered years.
Utilizing a multi-disciplinary perspective to emphasize issues and values impacting the American and International Deaf Communities, topics covered include: causes of hearing loss, speech and hearing process, manual sign systems, professions in the field of D/deafness, current events in the Deaf community, aspects of deaf communication, technology and its impact on communication, educational philosophies, and history of the Deaf in the United States and globally.
