ART 3003 - How Photography Became Art 3 cr. 3 hr. Offered every other year
This course focuses on the dynamic relationship between photography and Western art. In it, we investigate how the changing relationship between art and science in the 16th century led to the development of photography in the beginning of the 19th century, and how this development in turn transformed ideas about art and visual culture in the 19th and 20th centuries. Note: this is a cultural history course, not a production course. ART, FA
