ART 2350 - American Art I: Colonial to 1900 3 Credit(s) Offered: every two years in the fall
Art History. This course will explore the art and architecture of America from the early seventeenth century to the end of the nineteenth century, with a particular focus on national identity and self-invention. We will investigate how art informs and is informed by the religious, political, and socio-economic concerns of the period, and how the tensions and desires of an emerging nation were negotiated through its cultural artifacts.
