ART 2050 - Public Art 3 Credit(s) Offered: every other year
This course examines the role of art in public spaces. We analyze how public art visually expresses the diverse identities, stories, and cultures of the communities who create and view it. First, we consider public art from ancient historical periods through the nineteenth century. Second, we look at public art in our local communities throughout Massachusetts. Third, we study contemporary public art around the world.
