Objectives for the Women’s Studies Program

The program in Women’s Studies provides multicultural and interdisciplinary courses which examine women’s roles, history, and issues. These courses satisfy requirements in the Liberal Arts and Sciences program and also can be counted toward an interdepartmental minor.

Requirements for the Minor in Women’s Studies

The minor in Women’s Studies includes the Introduction to Women’s Studies and five other courses including independent study, selected from the following courses:*

Required Course

IDIS 1000 - Introduction to Women’s Studies 3 cr.

Electives

Choose five from the following:

IDIS 2000 - Women in Science and Technology 3 cr.
IDIS 2340 - Issues in Women’s Health 3 cr.
HIST - 2450 History of U.S. Women to 1870 3 cr.
HIST 2490 - Women in U.S. History to 1870 3 cr.
ENGL 3300 - Women and Literature 3 cr.
ITAL 3300 - Women in Italy 3 cr.
ART 3700 - Women, Art, and Society 3 cr.
MUSC 3900 - Women, Music, and Society 3 cr.
IDIS 4900 - Independent Study 3 cr.
