Vocational Technical Teacher Approval Program

Candidates seeking credentials as approved vocational technical instructors must successfully complete a 39 semester hour competency based training program. This training program provides the candidate with the curriculum, organizational and delivery skills, along with the methodological and pedagogical competencies needed to become an effective vocational technical instructor or pursue a baccalaureate program.

These Courses are eligible for transfer into the BSE in Occupational/Vocational Education degree program.

OCED 2500 - Seminar for the Beginning Vocational Technical Education Teacher 3 cr.
OCED 2520 - Managing Student Behavior in a Healthy and Safe Environment 3 cr.
OCED 2530 - Teaching Methods for Vocational Technical Education—Instructional Strategies 3 cr.
OCED 3510 - Teaching Methods for Vocational Technical Education—Educating and Assessing the Vocational Technical Education Learner 3 cr.
OCED 3520 - Teaching Methods for Vocational Technical Education—Using Research-Based Practices to Develop Effective Instructional Strategies 3 cr.
OCED 3530 - Developing and Implementing a Standards-Based Curriculum in Vocational Technical Education 3 cr.
OCED 3700 - Addressing the Needs of Students with Disabilities in Vocational Technical Education 3 cr.
English courses: Six undergraduate credits in English to include three credits in introductory English Composition, or a higher level and three additional credits in higher level English. 6 cr.
Math and Science courses: Twelve undergraduate credits in mathematics and science to include a minimum of three credits of college mathematics and a minimum of three credits of college science. The remaining six credits may be earned in college mathematics and/or science. 12 cr.
