Technical Theater Minor

The Technical Theater minor offers practical courses that serve the professional or education career-minded student in scene design, lighting, sound, properties, costumes, make-up and stage management areas of study. Students in the minor will be involved in mounting full-scale theatrical productions, produced and directed by our Theater Program faculty.
Students must have a 2.0 minor GPA to be awarded a minor. Once a student is in the program, she or he must maintain a GPA of 2.5 after three courses in the minor to remain in the minor.

Expected Outcomes
Students who complete the Technical Theater minor will be able to serve in an entry-level position for a production company or as an educator, supplement programs at schools where productions/concerts/recitals are mounted and are seeking the technical theater skillset served by this minor.
Program Curriculum Requirements
This minor requires 6 courses, 18 credits. The following two courses are required:
Four electives (select from list below)
One of these courses must be at the 3000 or 4000 level.
Note:
Courses used to fulfill any requirements within the Communications Media major may not be used for the Technical Theater minor.
