Objectives for the American Studies Program
The interdisciplinary minor in American Studies provides an opportunity for students to explore the cultural life of the United States throughout its history. In American Studies courses, students apply methods drawn from diverse academic disciplines, including literature, history, music, art history, economics, and political science, geography, folklore, communication, and media studies. The minor requires a minimum of six courses or 18 credits.

Additional Information
Independent Study, Directed Study, or Topics courses that are pertinent to the minor can be selected in consultation with the IDIS Minors coordinator, the American Studies Minor advisor, or the English Studies department chair.
