The Certificate is designed for healthcare providers or any individual needing medical communication skills in Spanish and intercultural abilities for medical purposes. This Certificate focuses on listening, speaking, reading, and writing set around different medical settings.

Admissions Requirement

Required GPA: 2.0

Course Prerequisite: SPAN 2000 (Students that feel they meet the intermediate level 1 requirement can test out of this level by requesting a Spanish Language Evaluation in the Humanities Department).

Program Requirements

The Undergraduate Medical Spanish Certificate requires the following courses:

SPAN 2300 - Medical Spanish 3 cr.
SPAN 2000 - Intermediate Spanish I 3 cr.
SPAN 2600 - Hispanic Culture 3 cr.
Students that have declared the Medical Spanish Certificate may take SPAN 2000 concurrently with SPAN 2600 with department approval. Transfer credits can be accepted for Spanish 2000.
