ENGL 2323 - Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Journalism

3 cr. 3 hr. Day course offered in the Fall.

This course introduces students to big data and artificial intelligence as tools to uncover, investigate, and create journalistic work. Over the course of the semester, students will learn how to apply data sets and empirical findings to real-world events. Students will develop an understanding of how research data and theory can be used to produce deeper and richer reporting and learn how to write data-informed articles. Students will also be introduced to artificial intelligence systems used to enhance journalistic products.
