ENGL 3030 - The Middle Ages 3 cr. 3 hr. Offered every fourth semester.
This course is an introduction to primary texts of medieval period, c. 500-1500, from both the British Isles and continental Europe, and explores the interconnected literary history of these traditions. Possible readings include the earliest extant Old English epic Beowulf, Chrétien de Troyes, Marie de France, Norse sagas, and Malory’s Morte d’Arthur.
