Objectives for the Program in Computer Information Systems

The Computer Information Systems Program offers the opportunity for students to develop knowledge and skills in analysis and design of business information systems, database development, software development, and networking. This program prepares the students for professional careers in the rapidly changing field of computer information systems. Students develop good communication skills and the ability for teamwork and leadership roles in their professional careers.

All CIS majors are encouraged to seek a minor in Business Administration.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions
  • Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solutions to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline
  • Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts
  • Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles
  • Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the computer science discipline
  • Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment

 

Requirements for the Major in Computer Information Systems


Must include:

FYE 1021 Seminar in Computer Science 3 cr.
