This survey of ancient history from the Bronze Age in the ancient Near East to the “fall of the Roman Empire,” focuses on the chief social, political, economic, intellectual, religious, and military achievements of the Greeks and Romans. By examining a variety of primary sources, secondary sources, and material culture, this course seeks to evaluate the contributions of ancient Greece and Rome to European history and the human experience.
