COUN 8300 - Psychological Testing and Assessment: Theory and Practice 3 cr. This course covers principles and methods of assessment in counseling psychology, including foundational concepts related to descriptive statistics, test construction, norms, standardized scores, reliability and validity. Theoretical constructs related to cognitive, achievement and mental health assessments are introduced. Ethical considerations in assessment and issues related to the use of computer-assisted assessments are examined. Counseling candidates learn how to select, administer, score and interpret tools designed to measure behavioral, social, emotional and psychological functioning. Cultural and social justice responsiveness in assessment are investigated.
